Lappeenranta journal: Day 3.

środa, 29.08.2007, 17:44

As I promised, this post is in English, so as more non-polish speakers can understand what I am writing here.

It is the first Orientation day today, so we had an opportunity to discover some of the deepest secrets of LUT :) There were some presentations of university, student union, medical center and other. The Lutheran pastor’s presentation was quite funny, as he started to sing, while playing guitar. Bear in mind, he was singing some Finnish song, and you’ve got the image :P

Well, there was also quite good presentation about culture shock, presented by American, who has been living in Finland for last years. Thus, she had really good American accent, much better than predecessors.

I have taken many photos today, including the interior of the university. Follow the link, which is somewhere at the bottom of this post. A photo below shows from the left: me, Florian from Austria, Martin from Slovakia, and Pekka – our tutor (obviously, he is from Finland):

Some words about shopping we’ve made today. I finally bought a functional mug, which can be used to boil the water. At least I will be able to drink something hot while being home. For last two days I used to “waste” 2.70€ for each bus drive, but not anymore. I mean, I bought monthly ticket. It’s not cheap (and there are no discounts for students like me) – the final price was 56,50€. Anyway, this is always cheaper than buying single tickets. And here is a photo:

Quite a difference comparing to Szczecin ZDiTM tickets, isn’t it?

What is also worth to notice, is visit to acitvate Origo account. Afterwards, I composed my list of courses to take, but I can’t make a final schedule. This is because two of eight courses are not listed on full schedule, so I cannot be sure something does not collapse there. I hope it won’t because if it does, I will need an acceptance of changes from LUT and WNEiZ (my faculty), send documents to Szczecin, receive them back, and make many unnecessary paper work…. Anyway, it was also quite annoying to choose the password for Origo system. The first time I typed in it turned out, the password is too long :) The second time it had too few digits and uppercase letters. In third try the alert was, it is a word from dictionary. I tried 6 or 7 times, but finally I managed to do this. Well, I can just only hope I won’t forget it :P

And last (but not least), take a look at updated gallery, which includes some photos of University inside – click a thumb to go there :)

Best wishes from Lappeenranta :)

P.S
My love lioness, don’t worry, I love you so much and can’t wait when I see you :*
